TRAUMA OF A RAPE VICTIM

The most immediate person affected by sexual violence is the VICTIM or SURVIVOR. It  is important  to note that  Rape Trauma,  as  it's  given  in medical   terms  is    very  grievous.

Whether   it   was   Ten   days    ago  or  Ten  years  ago,   emotions   and   thoughts  may seem  overwhelming following  a   SEXUAL ASSAULT.

Rape is nature intentionally designed to produce psychological trauma, a form of organised social violence.

I have paraventure heard from some people term rape as simply being unwanted sex, whereas the victim suffer Post Traumatic Stress, Disorder, affecting both physical. behavioural and psychological levels.

PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS:

I). SHOCK - A rape victim experience Instant Shock, Feverishness, Mentally Abused, or Confused, Nausea, FEAR.

II). Tension Headaches

III). Pain

IV). Nightmares

V). Flashback

VI). Low Self Esteem

VIII). Depression

IX). SCARS -  scars around the body, bruises, cuts, or perhaps other injuries causing bleeding, cuts in the virgina possibly leads to infections or sexually transmitted diseases.

VICTIMS BEHAVIOURAL SYMPTOMS:

1. FEAR

2. HATRED

3. RESTLESSNESS

4. VERY ALERT AND WATCHFUL

5. GENERAL CHANGES - Lifestyle, Changing Jobs, Schooling ...

6. Very Aggressive / Anger

7. Sadness

8. Isolation

9. Lack of Concentration

10. Denial

11. Embarrassment

SOLUTION:

First of all is to make victim seek a professional counsellor during the period of assault.

Recovery is slow, which doesn't come easily without pain.

Survivor must heard, and must be convinced they're understood.

Constant guide and counselling.

It is more about learning better ways of coping with trauma and letting fear go.
